Nettle – Urtica dioica, U. urens

Nettle comes from the Urticaceae (Nettle) Family
Function: Nourishes the Liver and Relieves Fatigue

Other Uses: Drink Nettle tea before a surgery to assist in building the blood, promote healthy blood clotting, regain energy, and recovery faster.
Nettles have been used to make a dark green dye. Due to the fibrous stalks, it has been used to make rope and paper.
Garden Tip: plant nettles in your garden to create a more potent level of volatile oils in the plants that they surround. Add some nettles to your water or sprinkle them throughout the garden as this will promote growth and make the plant(s) more resistant to bugs.
Edible Uses: Considered to be more nutritive than spinach. IT can be cooked as a substitute for spinach, turnip greens, chard, beet greens, and mustard greens.
If you want to preserve your fruit longer and deter pests, store with dried nettle or wrap the fruit with the leaves. This will also provide a resistance to mold.
For beer and wine drinkers, you can use nettles to make your stock of ale and wine. Blend in smoothies to increase your energy level for the day.
